Sauteed Cinnamon Lime Infused Strawberries


June is officially the month when strawberries will be in full season at least here on the east coast. However, due to the warm winter we might have some early strawberries to pick.  Fortunately, there is California and Florida that provide us with plenty of strawberries during the year. This recipe is especially good for those with a sweet tooth like myself. Sautéed strawberries can be served over ice cream, crepes and waffles, just to name a few.

The Grand Marnier used in this recipe intensifies the orange sauce and marries all flavors beautifully. This is one of my favorite desserts. It is very simple and really delicious. Sauteed Strawberries infused with cinnamon and lime accompaniment by an orange Grand Marnier sauce is the perfect topping for any ice cream. Even better serve it over a vanilla crepe and ice ream.
Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 4
  • 1lb of Strawberries
  • 1 ripe Banana
  • 2 oz (56.68 g) butter
  • ⅓ cup (67 g or 2.37 oz) sugar
  • Juice from 1 lime & 1 orange
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp Grand Marnier
  1. Wash strawberries, remove caps from strawberries. Cut in quarters.
  2. Cut banana in ⅛ inch slices. Set aside with strawberries.
  3. Heat heavy bottom pan over medium heat and add sugar, butter & juice.
  4. With a wooden spoon stir the sugar mixture until it completely melts. Let it reduce slightly, about 3-4 minutes, but don’t let it caramelize.
  5. Add the fruits and cinnamon. Sautée for about 3 minutes than add Grand Marnier. Let cook for another minute until alcohol is evaporated.
When buying strawberries go for the most fragrant ones in the shelf. If there are sold in closed plastic pints turn them upside down to see if they are not moist on the bottom or even grows of mildew. Strawberries should be bright red, dry and full of sweet fragrance. If the orange Grand Marnier sauce reduces too much add a little more juice to it. The orange sauce will turn slightly red and adapt a lovely strawberry flavor.
